Lavender & Herb Wreath-Making Class at Be Blends on Main, Ellicott City

Serena Pelletier, owner of Serene Lavender Farm in Sykesville, will guide you step-by-step in making your own natural, dried lavender and herb wreath to take home. To design your wreath, you’ll be provided with a wide selection of organic dried lavender of different shapes and colors, plus wheat, grasses, and herbs. Serena will walk you through all the steps from planning, to execution, to caring for your wreath. All supplies will be provided in the cost of the workshop, so bring yourself and your creativity to create beautiful wreath you’ll enjoy for years!

- All supplies will be provided and are included in the class cost
- Sample wreaths will provided for inspiration!
- Wreath form is 12” in diameter, finished wreath is usually 13-14”
- Extra lavender will be for sale at discounted pricing to take home
- Bring some snacks and your favorite beverage and enjoy a fun afternoon with your friends!

Workshop will be approximately 2 hours long. Class size is limited and advanced registration is required.

The inaugural Mount Airy Oktoberfest will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2018, in Downtown Mount Airy, Maryland, offering a traditional Oktoberfest experience.

The event is family friendly, boasts family entertainment, brass bands, German folk music and dancers, yodelers, and will showcase a Kids Corner, complete with Moon-Bounce, crafts, and carnival inspired games.

Enjoy shopping along historic Main Street, and endulge in a traditional-style biergarten, featuring special Oktoberfest selections and domestic choices, as well as traditional Bavarian food that is uniquely crafted by Mount Airy local restaurants.

A landmark event for over 40 years, the Catonsville Arts & Crafts Festival draws artisans from Maine to Florida showcasing the finest one-of-a-kind paintings, pottery, photography, jewelry, fabric creations and more. On the Sunday after Labor Day each year, the main street of town is closed to traffic and opened to shoppers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is always free!

Farmer’s Market - Tomato Festival Week

All of the produce is picked the day before or the day of the market. Come out and meet the people who grow your food. There will also be fresh cut garden flowers available.

The produce shoppers this week should be able to find peaches, cantaloupes, melons, peppers, tomatoes, sweet corn, potatoes, cucumbers, squash, kale, lettuce, plums, beets, and beans. Customers should come early for the best selection.

Hours for the Summer Market are from 8am – 1 pm.

There is no admission and parking is free. 
Follow the signs “To Ag Center”.

Come and tour our farm, planted with over 1200 plants and 12 varieties of lavender. Admission is free and you can walk through the grounds on your own. We'll have our hand-made Serene Lavender Farm products for sale. 

  • Some varieties of lavender will be ready to pick for pick-your-own bunches! As of the week of 6/11, we have Big Time Blue, Rosea, Royal Purple, and Folgate ready to pick.
  • One "bunch" of lavender is one-and-a-half inches (1 1/2") diameter at the stem base for $7. (We have rings to measure bunches.) 
  • The land is rugged and this is a working area, so wear sturdy shoes.
  • We do not have restrooms.
  • There are 2 bee hives on site at the far end of the property; they are friendly but we are letting you know in case of allergies.
  • The address is not exact so look for the large power line towers on Cherry Tree Lane, and our sign in the field under the power lines. Parking will be in a designated area adjacent to the lavender field.

Announcing an open-house, the first of (we hope) several over this summer! Come and tour our farm, planted with over 1200 plants and 12 varieties of lavender. Admission is free and you can walk through the grounds on your own. (We will gladly accept donations to the YMCA "Send a Kid to Camp" campaign if you wish to make a donation in lieu of an entrance fee.) We'll have our hand-made Serene Lavender Farm products for sale. 

  • Some varieties of lavender may be ready to pick for pick-your-own. We will keep this page updated with the latest bloom watch!
  • The land is rugged and this is a working area, so wear sturdy shoes.
  • We do not have restrooms.
